Mohamed Shareef
Mohamed Shareef began his career in 1968 in the Ministry of External Affaires. He was also the Under Secretary of the Ministry of Provincial Affaires for 2 years. However major part of his service to the Maldivian Government had been to the Maldives Customs Service. He joined the Customs as an English Secretary. Since then he had served the Customs as Assistant Collector, Director and Director General. Mr Shareef last served as the Assistant Executive Director of the Maldives Customs Service. He was presented with the Distinguished Service Certificate for his role as the key figure in the modernization of Customs Administration. He served the Customs for over 30 years before retiring in 2006.
Mr Shareef had represented Maldives Customs Service at National and International conferences, seminars and workshops. At the 50th Anniversary of the World Customs Organization in 2002 he was awarded with the World Customs Organization’s Medal of Honor for Distinguished Service to Customs.
