Established in the year 1988 and having initiated its services as the agents for HSBC, Sri Lanka; Cyprea Card Centre holds one of the longest history of credit card acquiring, in the Maldives. Subsequently, the credit card acquiring of HSBC was bought over by Global Payments Inc; a leading Acquirer and Cyprea Card Centre became their agents.

Cyprea Card Centre have influenced numerous improvements to the credit card acceptance; especially to the tourism sector and the industry have immensely benefited from it. Cyprea Card Centre have also been the pioneer of many competitive products and services to its customers. Introduction of POS machines (to replace the manual credit card acceptance), introduction of the Internet Payment Gateway, facilitation of Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) or home currency are some of the most important ones.We are the sole Acquirer in the Maldives that have attained PCI DSS Compliance Certification (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard). The PCI Standard is mandated by the card brands and administered by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council.

Cyprea Card Centre is the also the only Acquirer that makes regular visits and conduct frequent training to ensure their customers are well aware of the best practices of credit card acceptance and in turn minimize possible losses that may incur.
